President Trump will appoint a Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and Director of the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) with missions to make significant modifications to the HIPAA Rules.

Roger Severino, OCR Director in the first Trump administration, described proposed HIPAA modifications in the 2025 Presidential Transition Project. A particular focus will be the 2024 HIPAA Privacy Rule to Support Reproductive Health Care Privacy.

The new HIPAA Privacy landscape will confuse and worry Health Care Providers, Business Associates, and patients. You must know what to expect and thoughtfully plan how you will respond to protect your organization, staff, and the people you serve.
